lowercase first char?

foreach

Had allowed the display of parameters using {{foreach}} and then through repetition due to the template's infamacy. Now added :subst: to replace {{temps}} functionality. Davilla 21:50, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

talk about talk?

I think that would be a good thing. Hopefully more clicks on {{temp}} links are to learn about or talk about a template than to edit it. :-) Rod (A. Smith) 03:31, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

If we made it dependent on the existance of the talk page, it probably wouldn't be too disruptive. Otherwise you'd get a lot of red links. Is a good idea. Robert Ullmann 13:17, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Template tlx

There is an interproject template b:Template:Tlx at Wikipedia, Wikibooks, and other wikiprojects playing the same role as this template temp. --Daniel Polansky 07:37, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Proposed documentation change.

It seems like this template is needlessly complicated, and we suggest needlessly complicated workarounds for things that, for technical reasons, it can't handle. I think the documentation should emphasize two notations:

• {{temp|etyl:hbo}}
• {{temp|projectlink|<nowiki>pedia|lang=he|sc=Hebr</nowiki>}}

plus a few of the additional parameters needed for subst:, non-template-space, and sister-project support.

I don't think it's feasible to change existing uses of the template, so we do need to retain the template complexity; and that means that we do need to retain the current documentation somewhere so that people editing the template know what cases need to still work, but I don't think we should give it the undue emphasis we currently do.

Non-breaking hyphen

Ideally hyphens in template names should be replaced by non-breakable variants (‑, U+2011). – Jberkel 09:10, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
