Template talk:named-after
Add topicNamed after multiple individuals
[edit]@Erutuon, when a term is named after more than one person (e.g., Bose-Einstein condensate, Bose-Einstein statistics, Einstein-Rosen bridge, etc.), then we 1) either need a parameter for the other individual(s) and other corresponding parameters for occupation, nationality, etc.; or 2) need a parameter |notext=
that would suppress the text generation so that the template could be used multiple times. Otherwise we have to employ the primitive method of adding the Eponym category. Could you help out? Thank you. ·~ dictátor·mundꟾ 21:31, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
- I think having
|notext=
would be simpler. Also @Benwing2. ·~ dictátor·mundꟾ 08:30, 6 September 2021 (UTC) - There's a similar thing needed (or not) in
{{coin}}

Why?
[edit]To what end do we attempt to impose this level of complexifying standardization? Is this baroque template intended to facilitate inserting content under derived terms on proper name entries? Has it actually been so used? I don't think I will ever use this myself.
I note that most instances of this don't link to available WP articles for the eponymous individuals. I expect that this is attributable to the extra typing for "wplink=". It would have been simpler to use {{w}}
within parameter 2. DCDuring (talk) 16:38, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- The template should be changed to optionally accept wikidata ids, similar to
{{coin}}
. Less typing, automatic description and always correct wplinks. Jberkel 18:08, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
