New version

[edit]

@Eirikr, Whym, Nibiko, TAKASUGI_Shinji, Haplology User:Wyang has made massive enhancements to this accelerated Japanese entry creation template. I encourage you to use it and provide feedback. :) --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 01:32, 27 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Automatic ja-pron

[edit]

@Wyang, Fumiko Take, Eirikr Hi all.

Something happened that the template no longer adds {{ja-pron}} to entries automatically, which I think it's uncool. I used it on 陽極(ようきょく) (yōkyoku) to add Japanese and Korean entries. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 07:23, 22 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Fixed. Wyang (talk) 07:31, 22 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 07:36, 22 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Oops. But I think it's good now. ばかFumikotalk 08:09, 22 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Wyang Oh crap. It didn't really work man. I keep getting this message Lua error in Module:ja at line 843: attempt to concatenate a nil value. ばかFumikotalk 08:29, 22 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
There have been too many revisions in the meantime... I added support for an empty second parameter. It seems to be working when I regenerated the content of 陽極(ようきょく) (yōkyoku). Wyang (talk) 09:10, 22 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Lost automatically generated formatted etymologies

[edit]

@Wyang, Fumiko Take, Eirikr

Hi all,

We lost another piece of functionality:

With this code: {{subst:ja-new||n|eau de toilette, toilet water (lightly scented perfume)|e=eau de toilette|el=fr|syn=オードトワレ}}

I was expecting something like this in the etymology section:

From {{etyl|fr|ja|sort=おととわれて}} {{m|fr|eau de toilette}}.

See example for サジェスト (sajesuto).

The new trend is to use {{bor}}, though. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 07:02, 1 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Atitarev I've changed it to d an dl. The current template is {{der}}. Check the documentation for more. ばかFumikotalk 07:06, 1 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • @Atitarev, Fumiko Take, Wyang: do any of you know why green-link auto-creation isn't working suddenly? It worked just yesterday, but now, clicking the green zuan link at ずあん completely fails to even invoke Edit mode -- it just opens the [[zuan]] page in regular Read mode.
I don't suppose any of you are working on something? If so, I'm happy to wait. If not, should we bring this up at the Grease pit? ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 20:53, 1 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
... and now the zuan link at ずあん is orange instead of green. Something else must be going on. Sorry for the confusion. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 20:58, 1 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
The issue seems to have been resolved? I enabled green links and was able to get preloaded text after clicking on the green link in サジェスト (sajesuto). Wyang (talk) 22:16, 1 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • The problem was that the zuan link at ずあん was erroneously appearing as green, which it should only do if the linked page doesn't exist yet. If there's already something there, even in another language, it should never appear as green -- it should appear as either blue (if the target page has an entry for this same language), or orange (if the target page has an entry, but not for this same language).
Since I saw green, I was confused when I clicked and didn't get Edit mode. After I realized that the issue was incorrect link coloring, and not any breakage of the old Conrad scripts, I posted that "something else must be going on". But then something else came up IRL, and I didn't have time to post in more detail. Sorry for the confusion. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 22:46, 1 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Ah I see, Eiríkr. Sorry for the misunderstanding! IMO it doesn't seem to be a Japanese module issue. Wyang (talk) 23:02, 1 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Can't create simple katakana entries

[edit]

@Wyang Hi. Something's seems wrong with the ja module? I don't seem to be able to create some simple katakana entries, e.g. ネスト (nesuto) with {{subst:ja-new||n|nest|d=nest|syn=巣}} (I also tried shortest definitions). Also tried on タルト (taruto, tart). --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 00:18, 1 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Also @Fumiko Take, Suzukaze-c, TAKASUGI Shinji, since you edited Module:ja. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 01:49, 1 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Atitarev Does it work now? ばかFumikotalk 02:05, 1 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Fumiko Take Yes, thanks! --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 02:16, 1 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

This template lacks form for Extended shinjitai, and some Kanjis like 潅 are classified as Shinjitai by mistake.

This template lacks form for Extended shinjitai, and some Kanjis like 潅 are classified as Shinjitai by mistake. A form like |exsin=Extended shinjitai is needed. --Yoshiciv (talk) 03:56, 15 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

 BTW, a good list of Extended shinjitai is here.--Yoshiciv (talk) 04:21, 15 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

cat parameter

[edit]

Can the "cat" parameter to add categories be restored, please? Thanks. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 11:20, 16 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

The template is broken for NEW pages

[edit]

(Notifying Eirikr, TAKASUGI Shinji, Fish bowl, Poketalker, Cnilep, Marlin Setia1, Huhu9001, 荒巻モロゾフ, 片割れ靴下, Onionbar, Shen233, Alves9, Cpt.Guapo, Sartma, Lugria, LittleWhole, Chuterix, Mcph2): Hello.

The template is currently broken for NEW pages, please see the discussion: WT:Grease_pit/2024/April#Template:ja-new_some_changes

The current workaround:

  1. Save the code for you used to make the entry and save the page with anything.
  2. Edit the page again and the code should work.

@Theknightwho and @Benwing2 will probably work on the fix. Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 00:31, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Theknightwho Can you take a look? I couldn't figure out how to get a proper stack trace telling me where the template parser is being called from, and I am not very familiar with the Japanese scraping code. Benwing2 (talk) 00:38, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Benwing2: Hi. Thanks. Does is actually use any scraping? I am not sure. I don't think it relies on any other entry. The reading must be supplied on the input. Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 00:43, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Atitarev Something is trying to scrape a nonexistent page, which is why the error is happening, but I don't know where. Benwing2 (talk) 00:50, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Benwing2: thanks.
  1. NEW entry example (as of today) 才気(さいき) (saiki, wisdom): {{subst:ja-new|さい-き|n|wisdom}}
  2. Existing entry example 返納金(へんのうきん) (hennōkin, refund): {{subst:ja-n|へん-のう-きん||refund, repayment}}
Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 00:51, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
All right, I think I know what the issue is, I need to allow nonexistent pages in Module:headword/data and Module:headword/page. Benwing2 (talk) 02:27, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
