@Huhu9001 Should this template show the stem in historical kana orthography (歴史的仮名遣い) or modern kana orthography (現代仮名遣い)? Usually Classical Japanese (文語) is associated with the former and Modern Japanese (口語) is associated with the latter, but all four combinations are possible, especially when occasional archaism in the modern language is taken into consideration (e.g. lyrics like 春よ遠(とお)き春よ and 現(あらわ)れし私はだあれ).

Also, it seems that people on the wiki transcribe the ハ行子音 in Classical Japanese as f instead of p. --Dine2016 (talk) 08:45, 3 February 2019 (UTC)

To Dine2016:

• Japanese dictionaries take the historical-kana-and-bungo combination, so I adopt this practice. Maybe I or someone else will make a new column giving the modern-kana-and-bungo combination sometime in the future.

@Huhu9001, how about this Old Japanese -shiku adjective: 同じ (⟨onazi⟩ → onaji)? I know there's no template yet for OJP section but I put placeholders, a classical-nari conjugation, and a variant form onashi without rendaku. ～ POKéTalker（═◉═） 10:04, 11 February 2019 (UTC)

@Huhu9001: currently this template is under Category:Japanese verb inflection-table templates. Since classical adjectives are also inflected alongside the classical verbs, this template should be under its parent category, Category:Japanese inflection-table templates. There's also Category:Japanese adjective inflection-table templates but the two templates under that category are probably deprecated. ～ POKéTalker（═◉═） 11:49, 1 March 2020 (UTC)

@Huhu9001: I see what you mean, I thought you were talking about *this template* rather than the verbs in question. For the latter, there should be a way to manipulate {{ja-verb}} and {{ja-adj}} to allow an entry to have both modern and classical inflections be categorized in one template. ～ POKéTalker（═◉═） 23:42, 1 March 2020 (UTC)

Table heading -- confusing to direct reader to Appendix:Japanese verbs if the word is not a verb.

If the input term is not a verb, then the table heading should be changed.

• "Conjugation" should be changed to "Inflection"
• The link to Appendix:Japanese verbs should be changed as appropriate.

We don't have any Appendix:Japanese adjectives page yet, but presumably we should create one and redirect there for things like ク活用, 形容動詞, etc.

We do have Appendix:Japanese auxiliary verbs, which would be good for terms like べし (beshi).
