Gender as first parameter

[edit]

@Angr, Embryomystic Most other languages' noun headword templates specify the gender with the first parameter. This includes {{sga-noun}}. Should this template be modified to do the same? —CodeCat 14:31, 25 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sure, if MewBot can relatively quickly change them all to the new format, or if the template continues to show parameter 1 as the genitive singular whenever it isn't set to one of the usual gender abbreviations. —Aɴɢʀ (talk) 14:33, 25 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
It turns out that all but a few pages already included the g= parameter, so I added it to the remainder. This means that we can just use the presence of this parameter to decide whether to use the old or the new format, just like we did with {{suffix}} and such. —CodeCat 15:54, 25 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

I'd still like to wait for @Embryomystic, since he's our other major Irish editor (are there others?). —CodeCat 17:10, 25 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
I was actually typing my response at the same time as you, but the edit didn't go through because you beat me to it. I'm fine with this. embryomystic (talk) 17:15, 25 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
Sorry. The change is live now, the existing entries just need to be updated. —CodeCat 17:27, 25 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
@CodeCat: could you do the same for {{ga-proper noun}}? It will be very confusing if it doesn't have the same parameters as this template. —Aɴɢʀ (talk) 18:29, 25 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
Both done, and all entries updated. —CodeCat 23:09, 25 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
@CodeCat This doesn't seem to be functioning properly for fourth-declension masculine nouns (see buinne, boinne). embryomystic (talk) 22:05, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
Fixed. I forgot to update one instance of the numbered parameters. —CodeCat 22:06, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
