The Føroysk orðabók says, that the Faroese femal noun oyggj (island) belongs to the declension f6, but this is not true for the definite singular forms. Thus, it is an own derivate of the f6 declension. The only variable in this paradigm is for the root oy, which is an alternative spelling for "island". -- Arne List 14:17, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
