[edit]@Vorziblix, Erutuon, is there a way we can use {{inflection of}}
as the backend here? —*i̯óh₁nC[5] 02:17, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
- It might be doable, but, I think, only at the expense of making it more complicated and removing some functionality (I don’t think the
notdef=
parameter can currently be replicated with{{inflection of}}
as the backend). Not sure how desirable that would be; I could give it a try if you think it’s worthwhile. - There’s also a lot of similar templates in other languages for which the same question might apply:
{{ca-verb form of}}
,{{nl-verb form of}}
,{{et-verb form of}}
,{{fi-verb form of}}
,{{gl-verb form of}}
,{{ka-verb-form-of}}
,{{de-verb form of}}
,{{got-verb form of}}
, and so on. — Vorziblix (talk · contribs) 02:31, 8 January 2018 (UTC)- I really wish they all used
{{inflection of}}
as a backend, but whatever. —*i̯óh₁nC[5] 02:47, 8 January 2018 (UTC)- @JohnC5: I’ve done my best to reimplement this with
{{inflection of}}
, but I’m having trouble getting pipes to escape correctly.{{!}}
escapes them through every level of template and parser function, but for this template to work correctly they need to be escaped in only the inmost parser function so they can be passed to the template containing it. Is there a simple way to do this? (I can imagine several very inelegant/long and repetitive ways to deal with this without having to escape pipes in this way, which is what deterred me above, but it’d be great if there’s a simple way.) — Vorziblix (talk · contribs) 05:54, 8 January 2018 (UTC)- @Vorziblix: Yeah, if it's too hard, then never mind. —*i̯óh₁nC[5] 06:04, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
- @JohnC5: I may have spoken too soon; I’ve succeeded in getting it working using a handful of minor kludges, and everything seems in order! Some things may need to be manually updated if some links in Module:form of/data ever change, though. — Vorziblix (talk · contribs) 06:13, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
