@Rua, Erutuon It seems catfix is also used in {{grc-categoryTOC}}, {{categoryTOC-Arabic}}, {{egy-categoryTOC}}, {{he-categoryTOC}}, {{cop-categoryTOC}}, and {{egx-dem-categoryTOC}}; I’ve been following Erutuon’s previous usage in adding it to TOC templates I’ve made. As it’s now been removed from this template, I’m not sure what the best practice is to follow; what are the arguments in favor of/against it? — Vorziblix (talk · contribs) 00:55, 31 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

It's a TOC template, its purpose is to display a TOC. It's not there to do catfix things. That's what full category templates are for, like {{poscatboiler}}. —Rua (mew) 14:02, 31 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
I added the catfix because it is more convenient to have the two necessary things in one template than two – but it is redundant when the ToC is being transcluded by a category boilerplate module. — Eru·tuon 21:04, 3 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
