Um what is this? I can't find "artfl" defined or explained anywhere and the text of this template doesn't help a bit... — Hippietrail 23:01, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- When you hit "preview", it gives you a list of external links (ARTFL - Wiktionary:Pronunciation key - IPA - WordNet - FOLDOC - Google:artfl - Altavista:artfl - dictionary.com - print.google), as well as a list of useful abbreviations: cf.=confer, colloq.=colloquial, fr.=from, obs.=obsolete, perh.=perhaps, prob.=probably, a.=adjective, adv.=adverb, imp.=imperfect, n.=noun, orig.=originally, pass.=passive, p.p.=past participle, p.pr.=present participle, pref.=prefix, prep.=preposition, pres.=present, subj.=subjunctive, vb.n.=verbal noun, v.i.=intransitive verb, v.t.=transitive verb. You can use it to look words up in various sources, but then you’re supposed to remove the ARTFL template before saving. —Stephen 23:27, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit]I've just removed the following comments left by Connel MacKenzie in the source of the template and last edited in 2005:
Now I need a way to do the {{{{1}}}} stuff, so I can have {{artful:OtherWord}} Maybe I'll just embed this in the {{stub}} template? That would be useful, and save a lot of steps.
