Symbol not displayed

[edit]

@J3133: not sure this edit is a good idea. Whatever symbol you used is not showing up for me, which means that most readers will also see it as a "symbol unavailable" box. Can you use some other symbol? — Sgconlaw (talk) 15:38, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Sgconlaw: The character I used is (U+2E3A TWO-EM DASH); I have replaced it with ——. J3133 (talk) 15:41, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@J3133: thanks. However, for me that looks the same as two em dashes typed one after the other (that is, what I had originally typed)—I still see a break between the two em dashes. — Sgconlaw (talk) 16:09, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Sgconlaw: The is for preventing a line break occurring between the two em dashes; i.e.,
“Letter to —
—”. J3133 (talk) 16:14, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@J3133: I see. I thought you were trying to eliminate the visual appearance of the break. — Sgconlaw (talk) 16:21, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Sgconlaw: I do not see a break; it might depend on the font. J3133 (talk) 16:30, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
