Linking to the official ISSN website

[edit]

@Sgconlaw (as creator): wouldn't it make more sense for this template to link to portal.issn.org? For example, https://portal.issn.org/resource/ISSN/0362-4331. Ioaxxere (talk) 16:23, 30 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Ioaxxere: I don't think so. The official portal provides very limited information about a serial unless one has a subscription. — Sgconlaw (talk) 16:30, 30 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Sgconlaw: that makes sense. It just feels redundant to have the OCLC and ISSN templates both linking to Worldcat. And as far as I can tell, ISSN links are very rarely used without an OCLC link in the same citation. Ioaxxere (talk) 16:57, 30 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Ioaxxere: the reason why I usually add an OCLC number to serials which have an ISSN is that, unlike books which usually have a single ISBN, some serials seem to change their ISSN from time to time. — Sgconlaw (talk) 17:01, 30 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
