This template should be used to decline all Ukrainian adjectives.

Usage

[edit]

Generally, a single argument is supplied to the template, normally just consisting of an adjective lemma, i.e. the nominative masculine singular form. Multisyllabic adjectives (which is almost all of them) are required to have an acute accent indicating the stress. For example, for the adjective си́ній (sýnij, deep blue):

{{uk-adecl|си́ній}}

produces

The module knows how to decline hard, soft and possessive adjectives, including those where the ending is stressed and those in -ций.

Indicators

[edit]

Indicators can be specified inside of angle brackets to modify the default declension behavior. Currently, the only indicator is old, which adds dated/dialectal forms to the declension, e.g. for си́ній (sýnij):

{{uk-adecl|си́ній<old>}}

produces

Alternative stresses

[edit]

You can specify alternative lemma forms, which is especially useful for words with multiple possible stress patterns. For example, родо́вий (rodóvij, ancestral) can also be stressed as родови́й (rodovíj). You can indicate this as follows:

{{uk-adecl|((родо́вий,родови́й))}}

which produces

You can add indicators in angle brackets after the lemma. Each lemma has its own indicators, so for example if you want to include dated/dialectal forms you should specify <old> after both lemmas.
