This template is used on category pages where a decision has been made to rename the category or merge it with another. Redirects do not work well for categories, and categories cannot be renamed in the same way that other namespaces can be. This template adds categories to [[Category:Category redirects]] and [[Category:Non-empty category redirects]] if this is this case. Category redirects are usually deleted when empty, but in some cases they are kept for longer periods to avoid confusion.
