This paradigm applies to Faroese female nouns such as gjógv (cleft). For historical reasons, ó alternates with ógv in certain forms. A-umlaut also occurs in the plural and the genitive singular.

  1. gj (first part of the stem)
  2. ó (stem vowel)
  3. gv (last part of the stem)
  4. á (alternating vowel)
