Template:epinew/documentation

This is intended to categorize specific and sub-specific epithets. It is intended to be used inside {{taxoninfl}}, but can also be used inside {{mul-proper noun}} and {{head|mul}}, when those templates are used for taxonomic names.

The page is categorized as having a missing or existing (in Wiktionary) specific epithet of a given language, most commonly Translingual (mul) or Latin (la).

It is preferred that only one use of the template be made in a single inflection line, the lowest-level (ie, last) epithet in the name.

The positional parameters are as follows:

1. epithet lemma entry
2. epithet as used in the taxonomic name, if different from parameter 1, blank otherwise
3. language code

Named parameters:

• notax=1 is used to show that, although an entry exists with the lemma name, the entry does not contain a definition appropriate for the specific or subspecific epithet of a taxonomic name.
