Template:de-adj form of/documentation
This template is used on the definition line of a German adjective form, and automatically lists the appropriate inflections for the non-lemma form in question. Normally it takes one parameter, the lemma, and automatically infers the relationship between the lemma and the non-lemma form.
For example, if used on the page braunen as follows:
# {{de-adj form of|braun}}
the result will be:
- inflection of braun:
If used on the page herzloseste as follows:
# {{de-adj form of|herzlos}}
the result will be:
- inflection of herzlos:
The template knows about all positive, comparative and superlative inflections. It is able to infer the relationship between lemma and non-lemma form in the following cases:
- Adjectives with normal endings, such as braun (braunen, braunere, braunstes, ...), enorm (enormen, enormere, enormstes, ...), dösig (dösig, dösigere, dösigstes, ...), etc.
- Adjectives where an e is inserted between the lemma and superlative ending, such as flott (flottesten), barsch (barschesten), betagt (betagtesten), erdnah (erdnahesten), etc.
- Adjectives where the lemma ends in an e which drops before endings, such as bitweise (bitweises, bitweisen, etc.).
- Adjectives where the lemma ends -em, -en, -el or -er, where the -e- drops before ending, such as simpel (simplen, simplere, etc.).
- Adjectives where the final consonant of the lemma is doubled before endings, such as fit (fittes, fittere, fittesten, etc.).
- Adjectives with umlaut in the comparative and superlative, such as nass (nässere, nässesten, etc.), geraum (geräumere, geräumsten, etc.), etc.
Irregular adjectives that don't fit into one of the above categories need an explicit second parameter to specify the relationship between lemma and non-lemma form. For example, for the page rosaner (-er form of rosa), use the following:
# {{de-adj form of|rosa|er}}
with the result:
- inflection of rosa:
The second parameter can be one of the following:
e
,em
,en
,er
,es
(for positive forms)ere
,erem
,eren
,erer
,eres
(for comparative forms)ste
/este
,stem
/estem
,sten
/esten
,ster
/ester
,stes
/estes
(for superlative forms)
