Usage
[edit]This template is used for producing usage notes for pairs of Turkish words having the same spelling that are pronounced differently through a different stress; typically a noun and a verb form.
- The first parameter should be the letter n for the noun and v for the verb form;
- the second parameter should be the word in question except the last two syllables;
- the third parameter should be the penultimate syllable; and
- the fourth parameter should be the ultimate syllable
Example
[edit]For example, the word yapışma.
- For the verbal noun:
- {{U:tr:homograph pronunciation|n|ya|pış|ma}}
- This produces:
- ● The stress is on the last syllable, i.e. yapışma.
- For the verb form:
- {{U:tr:homograph pronunciation|v|ya|pış|ma}}
- This produces:
- ● The stress is on the penultimate syllable, i.e. yapışma.
Note
[edit]The template can also be used for other cases where word stress is significant.
