Usage
[edit]This template may be used on Wiktionary entry pages to quote from Henry More's work Divine Dialogues (2nd edition, 1713); the 1st edition (London: […] James Flesher, 1668; →OCLC) is not currently available online. The template can be used to create a link to an online version of the work at Google Books.
Parameters
[edit]The template takes the following parameters:
|1=
or|page=
, or|pages=
– mandatory: the page number(s) quoted from, either in Arabic or lowercase Roman numerals as indicated in the work. When quoting a range of pages, note the following:- Separate the first and last pages of the range with an en dash, like this:
|pages=10–11
or|pages=x–xi
. - You must also use
|pageref=
to specify the page number that the template should link to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears).
- Separate the first and last pages of the range with an en dash, like this:
- This parameter must be specified to have the template determine the name of the chapter quoted from, and to link to the online version of the work.
|chapter=
– mandatory in some cases: in most cases the template will be able to determine the name of the chapter quoted from if the page number is specified. However, if the following page numbers are specified, the name of the chapter must be manually specified as follows:- Page 549:
|chapter=Scholia on the First Dialogue
or|chapter=A Supplement to the Third Dialogue;{{nb...|Beginning at Pag. 289. Line 15. to the End of that Dialogue}}
. - Page 563:
|chapter=Scholia on the Third Dialogue
or|chapter=Scholia on the Fourth Dialogue
- Page 549:
|para=
or|paragraph=
– if quoting from one of the dialogues (1st–5th), the paragraph number quoted from in uppercase Roman numerals. These are indicated in the margins of the work.|hymn=
– mandatory: if quoting from one of the "Divine Hymns", the name of the hymn.|2=
,|text=
, or|passage=
– the passage to be quoted.|footer=
– a comment on the passage quoted.|brackets=
– use|brackets=on
to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, “some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell”) rather than an actual use of it (for example, “we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset”), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.
