Usage
[edit]This template may be used on Wiktionary entry pages to quote Mary Shelley’s work The Fortunes of Perkin Warbeck (1st edition, 1830). The template can be used to create a link to online versions of the work at Google Books and the Internet Archive:
Parameters
[edit]The template takes the following parameters:
|1=or|volume=– mandatory: the volume number quoted from, in uppercase Roman numerals, from|volume=Ito|volume=III.|2=or|page=, or|pages=– mandatory in some cases: the page number(s) quoted from, in Arabic or lowercase Roman numerals (if quoting from the preface). If quoting a range of pages, note the following:- Separate the first and last page number of the range with an en dash, like this:
|pages=10–11or|pages=x–xi. - You must also use
|pageref=to indicate the page to be linked to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears).

- This parameter must be specified to have the template determine the chapter number or name (Preface, Conclusion) of the work quoted from, and to link to an online version of the work.
- In volume I, chapter XII is misnumbered as a second XI. The template indicates the correct number of this (XII) and the subsequent chapters (XIII–XVIII, indicated in the work as as XII–XVII) in square brackets.
- In volume II, the last chapter, XVIII, is misnumbered as XIII. The template indicates the correct number in square brackets.
|3=,|text=, or|passage=– the passage to be quoted.|footer=– a comment on the passage quoted.|brackets=– use|brackets=onto surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, “some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell”) rather than an actual use of it (for example, “we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset”), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.
