Usage
[edit]This template may be used on Wiktionary entry pages to quote from a collection of Hugh Latimer's works entitled Certayn Godly Sermons, Made uppon the Lords Prayer (1st edition, 1562). It can be used to create a link to an online version of the work at the Internet Archive.
Parameters
[edit]The template takes the following parameters:
|part=
– mandatory in some cases: if quoting from the second part of the work starting with the title page "27 Sermons Preached by the Ryght Reuerende Father in God and Constant Matir of Jesus Christe, Maister Hugh Latimer" in which the foliation restarts from 1, specify|part=2
.|1=
or|chapter=
– the name of the chapter or sermon quoted from. If quoting from one of the chapters or sermons indicated in the second column of the following table, give the parameter the value indicated in the first column:
Parameter value | Result | First page number |
---|---|---|
[Part 1] | ||
Epistle | To the Right Honorable, the Lady Katherine, Duches of Suffolke, […] (by Augustine Bernher, 12 October 1556 (Gregorian calendar)) | unnumbered folio |

Epistle 2 | To the Righte Vertuous and Gratious Lady Katherine Douches of Suffolk, […] (by Thomas Some, 1556) | unnumbered folio |
- As the two dedicatory epistles are unfoliated, use
|page=
to specify the "page number" assigned by the Internet Archive to the URL of the webpage to be linked to. For example, if the URL ishttps://archive.org/details/certayngodlyserm00lati/page/1/mode/1up
, specify|page=1
.
|date=
, or (|month=
and)|year=
– if quoting from the second part of the work, if the date of the sermon quoted from is known, use|date=
to specify it in the format9 June 1526
orJune 9, 1526
. The date will be converted from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar. If only month and year, or year alone, of the sermon is known, use|month=
and|year=
to specify this information.|2=
or|folio=
, and|verso=
– mandatory in some cases: the work is numbered by folios rather than page numbers. The folio number is indicated on the top right corner of each recto (right-hand) page. Use|folio=
to indicate the folio number, and if quoting from a verso (left-hand) page specify|verso=1
or|verso=yes
; if|verso=
is omitted, the template indicates that a recto (right-hand) page is quoted. If quoting a range of folios, for example, "folios 10, verso – 11, recto", note the following:- Use
|folio=
and|verso=
to specify the folio at the start of the range, and|folioend=
and|versoend=
(if required) to specify the folio at the end of the range. - In addition, use
|folioref=
and|versoref=
to indicate the page to be linked to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears). (If quoting a recto page, omit|versoend=
and|versoref=
.)
- Use
- These parameters must be specified to have the template link to the online version of the work.
- 1st part: folio 17, verso, and folio 18, recto, are missing from the work.
- 2nd part:
- The foliation restarts from 1 in this part of the work.
- Folio numbers 66 and 85–90 are not used; the text appears to be unaffected.
|3=
,|text=
, or|passage=
– the passage to be quoted.|footer=
– a comment on the passage quoted.|brackets=
– use|brackets=on
to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.
