Usage
[edit]This template may be used in Wiktionary entries to format quotations from a collection of William Blake's works entitled The Works of William Blake: Poetic, Symbolic, and Critical (1st edition, 1893), edited by Edwin John Ellis and William Butler Yeats. It may be used to create a link to online versions of the work at Google Books and the Internet Archive:
- Volume I (contents) – memoir of Blake; commentary on his literary period and symbolic system
- Volume II (contents) – interpretation and paraphrased commentary; Blake the artist; references
- Volume III – Blake's works
Parameters
[edit]The template takes the following parameters:
|1=or|volume=– mandatory: the volume number quoted from in uppercase Roman numerals, from|volume=Ito|volume=III.|2=,|chapter=, or|title=– mandatory in some cases: the name of the chapter or title quoted from. if quoting from one of the titles indicated in the second column of the following table, give the parameter the value indicated in the first chapter:

- As the pagination of the above chapters in volume III restarts from 1, the chapter names must be specified as indicated above for the template to link correctly to the online version of the work.
|subchapter=– the name of the subchapter quoted from, if any.|line=or|lines=– the line number(s) quoted from, if any. If quoting a range of numbers, separate the first and last numbers of the range with an en dash, like this:|lines=10–11.|3=or|page=, or|pages=– mandatory: the page number(s) quoted from. If quoting a range of pages, note the following:- Separate the first and last page number of the range with an en dash, like this:

|pageref=to indicate the page to be linked to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears).

- This parameter must be specified to have the template determine, in some cases, the part of a title quoted from, and link to an online version of the work.
In volume III, the pagination of the work is erratic:
- The pagination restarts from 1 in There is No Natural Religion, Tiriel, and Vala. These chapter names must therefore be specified as described above for the template to link correctly to the online version of the work.
- Pages 171 and 172 are missing. If possible, replace the current version of the work used by the template with a better copy.
- The volume contains unpaginated reproductions of Blake's manuscripts. If quoting from one of these pages, specify
|part=reproor|part=reproduction, and use|3=or|page=to specify the "page number" assigned by the Internet Archive to the URL of the webpage to be linked to. For example, if the URL ishttps://archive.org/details/worksofwilliambl03blakuoft/page/n120/mode/1up, specify|page=120.
|4=,|text=, or|passage=– the passage to be quoted.|footer=– a comment on the passage quoted.|brackets=– use|brackets=onto surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.
