- (biblical) A city mentioned in 2 Kings 19:12 and Isaiah 37:12 as the destroyed city of the "children of Eden".

- Gozan, Harran, Rezeph, and Telessar were in Mesopotamia. Some other places are not known.

- Sennacherib mentions it in 2 Kings 19:12 and Isaiah 37:12 when referring to the 'children of Eden, which were in Telessar'; and the possessions of Pharaoh are referred to in Ezekiel 31:9 as extending to Eden.
Usage notes
[edit]Telessar is important primarily because of its appearance in many works of African-American fiction as an Eden-like city that acts as a symbol of the regenerated African nation, a synthesis of Ancient African spiritual beliefs and Christianity.
