How do you say "xe"?--220.238.204.21 10:22, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

That is a very good question! (I assume you are referring to the English, not the Lojban) The references only refer to its use in writing, e.g. on the Internet. I would think "zee", /ziː/, but that is only the obvious supposition! Robert Ullmann 10:35, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

I wish to correct the record. Some people on the web believe that the world did not exist before WWW.

I invented the pronoun xe in November 1971.

It appeared in "UU World" (the Unitarian Universalist publication) on 1 May 1973. Mario Pei gave me credit on page 145 of his 1978 book, "Weasel Words".

The pronunciation is zee, as in Xerox and in xenon. Other forms of the pronoun are xes and xen.

p 145 of Weasel Words states that Don Rickter refers to Time, offering several possibilities; need Time citation, but that will necessarily be mention. Robert Ullmann 14:15, 21 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
further text from p145: (begins by continuing the Time ref) "... "te," "tern," "ter"; and "co," "co," "cos"; while United Nations World of May 1, 1973, offered "xe," "xen," "xes" (pronounced zee, zen, zes). ..." so xe is in "United Nations World" [sic, see above]. A mention which happened to be the coining instance would still be a welcome addition to Citations:xe. Can you provide more publication details? ~ Röbin Liönheart (talk) 13:51, 17 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Vietnamese derivation

[edit]

Does the Vietnamese word derive from ? 71.66.97.228 06:51, 23 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

It's an Old Sino-Vietnamese word (i.e. before Middle Chinese). Hbrug 07:09, 23 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

I think it's an sino-vietnamese word. Cantonese (Jyutping) first pronounciaton of is ce1 (with c sounding like ts)

I see; I have added the Sino-Vietnamese etymology at xe#Vietnamese. 71.66.97.228 07:16, 23 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

God sent Xir Son to save the world so He must be with Xir

So that Xe must do with Xir good. It was unfortunate that Xe expelled Adam and Eve.
