Chinese word "woe"

E.g. "Bing woe" (sp) which literally translates to "soldier calamity" (according to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YF8AAJSTJoM&list=UUX6b17PVsYBQ0ip5gyeme-Q ). Since the definition of woe in english also can mean "calamity", it makes me strongly suspect the words are related. Use of the word “woe” as slang

The word “woe” can also mean “homie” or a friend of some sort so that could be added as another definition as it is beginning to gain popularity.
