Wine-whine split?

Does the wine-whine split actually affect this word? I don't think the ⟨h⟩ in ⟨wh⟩ is actually pronounced; it's just an orthographic thing. I refuse to imagine a Southern child going /ʍiː/. 70.68.245.161 07:10, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
