Is there any difference between "wash-leather" and "chamois leather"?

[edit]

Would it be fair to say that "wash-leather" and "chamois leather" are synonyms?
chamois: An absorbent cloth used for cleaning and polishing, formerly made of chamois leather.

Chambers defines wash-leather as "split sheepskin prepared with oil in imitation of chamois; a piece of this for washing windows; buff-leather for regimental belts". Equinox 15:50, 19 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
