Talk:verklempt
Add topicActually, "verklemmt" is not Old High German, but still in use today! A very common term. http://www.duden.de/suchen/dudenonline/verklemmt Berlin, Sept 26, 2015 178.12.231.15 20:07, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
- True, but that has nothing to do with this entry (although it does suggest that verklemmt needs a German section). —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 20:13, 26 September 2015 (UTC)

Rfv-sense: "excited, overjoyed, happy". The usage example sounds very much like an allusion to "Coffee Talk", but the Linda Richman character on that sketch always used the word in sense 1, "overcome with emotion, choked up". —Aɴɢʀ (talk) 15:59, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
- The usex needs to be changed anyhow. Not many people outside of the US can know what "SNL" is, and in the future it may well be forgotten. Usexes should be generic and timeless, as far as possible. Equinox ◑ 19:17, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
- Angr's right. RFV failed. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 06:35, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
Etymology
[edit]@Metaknowledge: in that case the OED got it wrong, because that’s the source I consulted. — SGconlaw (talk) 02:44, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
- The OED is not not that great at borrowed etymology. You can't follow them blindly. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 03:57, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
- Gee whiz! — SGconlaw (talk) 06:21, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
Serbo-Croatian translation
[edit]Hi, @Maria Sieglinda von Nudeldorf, thanks for your edit. Is the opening parenthesis ("(") in "preplavljen os(jjećajima" intentional? — SGconlaw (talk) 13:08, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
- Not intention, but lost reading glasses. I have just corrected the entry. Maria Sieglinda von Nudeldorf (talk) 20:52, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
- OK, great. — SGconlaw (talk) 02:16, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
