I'm a bit uncertain about the capitalization here - according to w:Talk:Johannes Diderik van der Waals, the V is capitalized only when it is the first letter. I suppose that it's about first letter of a sentence, but then I see no ban on using lowercase letter inside sentences. So: should this be moved to lowercase? I think the first letter of such a surname is always capitalized unless used behind the first name. For example, you would also say "Van der Waals, Johannes Diderik", or "It is certain that Van der Waals...". — Vildricianus 10:35, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
