@Lingo Bingo Dingo are you sure this is directly from "wijk"? I think it is likelier to refer to a toponym, such as Wijk aan Zee or Wijk bij Duurstede. Obviously the ultimate etymology of those Wijks are the same as lowercase wijk, but it seems like an important intermediate — Mnemosientje (t · c) 13:13, 29 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
