[edit]This word, to put it mildly, is rather a puzzle.
The second etymology is the only one I could find, and the corresponding declension is rather obvious given the forms in the dictionaries. However, the first etymology giving *walo- and *walu- is a bit strange, since if the Pgmc stem had *-o- or *-u-, there would be some kind of umlaut. Koebler Gerhard seems to be suggesting the same. And the only forms given for that meaning are singular, which would suggest that this word is uncountable. Do tell me if I'm wrong, as I am a mere newbie:). Myndfrea (talk) 05:00, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
You'd think there might have been some etymological connection to valor what with all the Norse cultural association of death in battle equating to valor. Maybe, maybe not. Darkmagine (talk)
