The first time I ever heard this word used was in the Red Dwarf episode 'Back to Reality' when it was uttered by Timothy Spall's character. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_to_Reality_%28Red_Dwarf%29
Spall's charcter Andy spoke with a thick Brummie accent and my best guess is that the word was either:
- a) invented by Red Dwarf (a recurring feature of the show - see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Dwarf#Hallmarks)
- b) Birmingham, England slang.
