Equinox: You are quite right about my quote not using "twining" as a noun. In fact, it occured to me right after I typed it. I was in the process of consulting dictionaries about whether to add an "adjective" section or to put it in the "twine" entry as a participle used as an adjective. What I found was that most older (and many newer) dictionaries don't define it separately as an adjective (although some due for the sole meaning of "twining" in botany). The Century Dictionary and the Cambridge Dictionary, however, do have an entry for adjective. I was about to create such a subsection, when I saw that you beat me to it.

By the way, what gave me pause was the illustration which was of a "twining plant" which was not used as a noun either. If I took my quote to the verb "twine," what should have been done with the picture. Cheers. AnthroMimus (talk) 12:36, 24 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
