The first two definitions
[edit]What's the difference between the first two definitions?
- A small, typically rectangular or round, flat, rigid object upon which things are carried.
- A flat carrier for items being transported.
Rephrasing these in the same way:
- A small, flat, rigid object upon which things are carried. Typically rectangular or round.
- A flat object upon which things are carried. Only used for things which are being transported.
I couldn't think of a non-rigid tray, and the "transported" part is surely superfluous. These can thus be rephrased:
- A small, flat, rigid object upon which things are carried. Typically rectangular or round.
- A flat, rigid object upon which things are carried.
Not much of a difference. How about unifying these as:
- A flat, rigid object upon which things are carried. Typically small and round or rectangular.
