toubab is NOT a French word, it is of African origin originally added to article by 98.206.5.63

Further to the above comment: Is it possible that toubab came into English via French?

Also need to review & reconcile the etymologies for English and French. This is a cognate, and certainly would have the same African origin in both languages (even if the English got it from the French).--A12n (talk) 14:47, 19 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
