Talk:third

The ordinal numbers from "third" upwards can also be nouns (the names of the fractions 1/3, etc). These need to be added.

I suggest also standardising the short forms (some are shown with superscript suffices (eg, 3^rd) others not (eg, 11th).

Verb form?

If we can "half#Verb" or "quarter#Verb" something, why can't we "third" it? (OK, the former is an obsolete form and is more usually rendered as "halve#Verb", but it still exists, and makes the pattern more elegant!) Just wondering… HTH HAND —Phil | Talk 10:04, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

According to Chambers, you can (= "divide by three", so perhaps not the same as dividing into three). Equinox ◑ 10:06, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Classification

It is classed as "Ordinal Number", shouldn't it be "Adjective", just like the other ordinals? See second, first for instance.Panglossa 21:40, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
