It's not in the usual Garfield strip search tool because it was a print book instead of the main comic strip, but its publication date is 1989. this image is live for the time being and the title of the book is Garfield's Longest Catnap. This is a literal usage, so I never added it to the entry. But it's possible that it's the source of the euphemistic usages that are in use today. i added it now, but with a footer making it clear that the metaphor wasnt on its feet yet and that Jim Davis was just playing off the rhythm of the skin-a-cat version. Soap 11:43, 26 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
