Development of the Latin textus during the Mediaeval period
[edit]Niermeyer’s entry for textus on its pages 1,027/2–1,028/1 records the following senses:
- [Classical]: text, wording, contents of speech or writing
- [Mediaeval]: charter
- [Mediaeval]: gospel-book
It's worth looking to see whether we can verify these senses independently. — I.S.M.E.T.A. 02:38, 13 April 2014 (UTC)
Missing English?
[edit]Chambers 1908 has "textus, the authoritative text, especially of the Bible", which sounds like our textus receptus. Can it stand alone in English? Equinox ◑ 01:02, 12 October 2018 (UTC)
