Pound weight for 1,000 nails

[edit]

Webster 1913 has an entry at penny (etymology: perhaps a corruption of pun, for pound) stating that it is used in combination to denote pound weight for one thousand nails, e.g. a tenpenny nail is a nail of which one thousand weigh ten pounds. Does this agree with our -penny nail entries, which are defined in terms of nail sizes? Equinox 14:14, 9 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
