I think that's like saying "nigger" as used by African Americans to address one another in a friendly fashion stands distinctly apart from "nigger" used as a racial epithet.

I've never heard Tea Party members self-identify as teabaggers and it should be common knowledge that the word was coined by anti-tea-partiers as a pejorative.
