Etymology

@Mlgc1998 I saw your etymology edits. "力" for "lia̍k" would be nearly impossible as it's a literary reading. More likely is the colloquial reading, but the phonemes don't match. As for "踏" "ta̍h", don't you mean "踢" pronounced "that"? --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 03:35, 28 March 2022 (UTC)

@Mlgc1998: Firstly, remember that we can't just invent our own character combinations, unless the word really exists for that. Secondly, as I said, "dia̍k" or "lia̍k" is almost impossible as it's a literary reading, you'd only get a literary reading if it's part of an established multi-character word, like those also used in Mandarin, formal words basically. I just meant that if you wanna compare a Hokkien word with the Tagalog word "tadyak", the Hokkien words "踢" (pronounced "that") seems more appropriate, since it also means "kick", while the word you suggested means "trample", which is a different action. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 12:58, 30 March 2022 (UTC)
