There is no basis for "not the person"
[edit]The listing claims the saying means "Judge the actions, not the person."
I very much doubt this is correct, for two separate reasons:
- First, there is nothing in the saying to indicate that it means to "judge the actions".
- Second, there is nothing in the saying to indicate that it means "not the person".
My overwhelming impression is that what it really means is: "Judge a person only by their actions." 2601:200:C082:2EA0:4C85:97E8:E26A:8609 04:23, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
- I would be happy to accept the amendment, except that "only" is not part of the admonition, leaving us with "Judge a person by their actions", or perhaps more specifically: "Stupid actions are a good indication (or show) that the actor is stupid" or "Stupid actions are a sign of stupidity" or something along those lines.
