Coptic descendants

[edit]

Since I am not the person to judge Egyptian sound developments, I post descendants I suspect here: Sahidic Coptic ⲥⲟⲩⲣⲉ f (soure, spike, thorn; needle, awl); (extended with suffix?) Bohairic Coptic ⲥⲉⲣⲟϫⲓ f (seroči, thistle); some alternative forms also in compounds Crum, Walter E. (1939) A Coptic Dictionary[1], Oxford: Clarendon Press, →ISBN, page 354, @Vorziblix. Speculated origin of زُعْرُور (zuʕrūr, hawthorn, medlar), which makes sense owing to the apparent frequency and basicness of the Egyptian words in account. Yep, you're right about the descendants. I've added them. — Vorziblix (talk · contribs) 20:30, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
