The etymon of this word
[edit]@Surjection, are you sure Finnish sluuppi was borrowed directly from Dutch sloep? If so, then this Finnish word must be quite an old borrowing (to give you an idea, English sloop itself was borrowed from the Dutch in the early 17th century). Otherwise, if the Finnish word be a recent loanword, then it is obviously straightway from the English. So could you please apprise me of the approximate age of the Finnish loanword, that its direct etymon may be determined. Thanks! —Lbdñk (talk) 15:32, 24 October 2019 (UTC)
