re definition given for Noun slew: "A large number."

I'm thinking, wouldn't "A large quantity" or amount be more correct? -- OlEnglish 17:52, 17 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

slew rate

[edit]

I'm not sure how to add this sense, but in electrical engineering, slew is the rate at which a device can output a signal following along with an input signal. It's not time-delay (which would be more like latency) but the steepness of the curve it can sustain; the quality of the result would be some limit on high frequency performance. I'm assuming that the EE meaning was borrowed from some traditional sense of slew, but I don't see anything here that matches. I guess if you were used to using the word slew for turning a craft, a signal falling behind might feel like slewing too slowly? see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slew_rate 76.33.171.135 02:39, 3 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
