Definition needs work
[edit]@BD2412 Any name given to you at birth by your parents is a "slave name" by the current definition. Equinox ◑ 16:53, 11 September 2021 (UTC)
- Wikipedia defines it as "the personal name given by others to an enslaved person, or a name inherited from enslaved ancestors", but I don't think this reflects modern usage, where people who meet neither condition sometimes use the term to describe their legal name as something imposed on them by society. bd2412 T 17:26, 11 September 2021 (UTC)
- @BD2412: At least "derogatory" then? Or only where the name is unwanted? Currently it reads as a neutral term. Equinox ◑ 17:32, 11 September 2021 (UTC)
