  • Wikipedia defines it as "the personal name given by others to an enslaved person, or a name inherited from enslaved ancestors", but I don't think this reflects modern usage, where people who meet neither condition sometimes use the term to describe their legal name as something imposed on them by society. bd2412 T 17:26, 11 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
