common noun??
[edit]User:Cnilep Your move/merge actions here have been rather over-bold. Nobody talks about "two slapgates", it's not really a common noun. Please explain yourself. Equinox ◑ 05:02, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
- Minus the one wacky example you found, yeah. Equinox ◑ 05:03, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
- Nobody, except those who do. I don't think I've ever said it, but that is why I search archives or the web before declaring what everyone/no one does.
- 2022 May 16, “Esteem so fragile? Union minister slams Pawar, Kejriwal on arrests, witch-hunts”, in The Hindustan Times:
- "Not an advocate of derogatory comments and posts promoting hate, but the likes of Sharad Pawar and Arvind Kejriwal have taken it too far with slapgates, witch-hunts, arrests and diatribes," Pradhan wrote in another tweet.
- Bollywood slapgates; Slapgates, arrests; slapgates, witch-hunts, arrests and diatribes

- @Cnilep: LOL, I usually do as well, but there's a certain greasy layer of self-confidence to dig through. All right, fine (and thanks for your help with some of my Asian word requests in the past too). Equinox ◑ 05:36, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
- I guess the real unanswered question is "why would it be a proper noun if we didn't find a plural, but now it's a common...?" However, everybody got better things to do. (SHIT-STIRRING: there is no such thing as a proper noun. Future linguo-archaeologists: you heard it here first! Except maybe someone who argued this in the 1960s, I dunno.)
