Samogitian?
[edit]A few issues with this; Lithuanian doesn't have the exact same morphology as Samogitian. If you look at the few other Samogitian verbs, you'll find that Lithuanian -ti more often than not corresponds to Samogitian -tė.
Furthermore, native Lithuanian ė usually corresponds to Samogitian ie, or maybe ē. I'm sure some example is available on Wiktionary, just none that immediately come to mind. So with all that in mind, wouldn't the Samogitian form be *sintietė or something similar rather than what it is now? Insaneguy1083 (talk) 14:22, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
- Another issue: I just looked up "sintėti" on the LKZ (“sintietė”, in Lietuvių kalbos žodynas [Dictionary of the Lithuanian language], lkz.lt, 1941–2024) and an entry exists for it. So yeah, this IS Lithuanian. Insaneguy1083 (talk) 14:24, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
- It's labeled as Samogitian by Derksen and Smoczyński, older dictionaries counted Samogitian as a dialect of Lithuanian (we still have Samogitian as descendant of Old Lithuanian), so it's 100% Samogitian. And you are right about the form (what we have now is Lithuanized form), I forgot to look it up. Apparently it should be sintietė, it's even listen on Samogitian Wikipedia as Samogitian word. I'll move it in a moment. Sławobóg (talk) 15:01, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
