[edit]John Camden Hotten's Slang Dictionary (1873) also has "a throw of fives at dice" (from French cinq (“five”)); I can't find it, but of course the everyday word gets in the way of searches. Equinox ◑ 03:46, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
