Missing adverb?

[edit]

In an E. F. Benson ghost story somebody stands "side-face" to somebody else (i.e. in profile): the hyphen was dropped in my edition but that's probably an error. In Google Books I also found in the word in a recent reprint of Robert Graves' The Feather Bed (1923) — "I stare at girls sitting sideface to me / And wonder at their beauty" — again possibly a dropped hyphen. In any case perhaps an adverb entry for at least side-face is warranted. Compare side-on. 2A00:23C5:FE1C:3701:C8B4:F55B:4D71:31B0 07:40, 6 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
