"Many linguists prefer..." is a meaningless statement. Can someone quantify and qualify this? My preference is for a long i in pronunciation, but that preference doesn't mean I'm correct, of course! — This comment was unsigned.

AmE vs BrE

[edit]

According to the Longman Pronunciation Dictionary, BrE RP is only /ˌʃɔːt ˈlɪvd/, while AmE prefers /ˌʃɔːrt ˈlaɪvd/ JMGN (talk) 17:08, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
